Statement on Beirut explosion

This week’s explosion in Beirut, which took over 145 lives, injured thousands more, and left some quarter of a million people homeless, has been a devastating blow to the people of Lebanon, who have already suffered so much tragedy and pain. I am enormously saddened to see the impact of this needless event and heartened to see the many efforts underway to find the missing, help those who are injured, and begin the process of recovery. We have reached out to our Lebanese students to offer our support.

My heart is with everyone who has been affected by this terrible tragedy.
