Announcing Cornell’s 15th president

Dear Cornellians,

We are delighted to announce that today the Cornell Board of Trustees voted to appoint Michael I. Kotlikoff as Cornell’s 15th president, effective immediately, after eight months of outstanding leadership for our institution.

At a moment when Cornell – and higher education – faces challenges on many fronts, Mike has expertly guided the university as interim president. Previously, across his 25 years at Cornell, Mike has experienced every facet of the university as a professor, lab director, teacher and mentor, researcher, department chair, and dean, and as the longest-serving provost in Cornell history. With his unwavering commitment to Cornell’s values and principles and unmatched institutional knowledge, Mike is the exceptional and visionary leader Cornell needs as our community of faculty, staff, students, and alumni navigates these turbulent times together.

We are eager to work with Mike in leading Cornell and carrying out our shared mission in support of teaching, research, and public engagement. You can learn more about his appointment in this Cornell Chronicle article.

Sincerely,

Kraig H. Kayser, MBA ’84
