Tentative agreement reached with CGSU-UE
Dear Cornell community,
We are pleased to share that Cornell and Cornell Graduate Students United (CGSU-UE), the union representing graduate student workers in affiliation with United Electrical, Radio & Machine Workers of America, have reached a tentative agreement on terms for a two-year contract. This marks a significant step forward in our collective efforts to support our graduate students while maintaining the university’s core values.
This agreement is the result of tireless work by Cornell’s bargaining committee, including a dedicated group of faculty and staff, as well as graduate student workers serving on CGSU-UE’s bargaining team exercising their collective bargaining rights.
By reaching this resolution at the bargaining table, Cornell has achieved its objectives in these negotiations: the university and CGSU-UE have agreed on contract terms that align with Cornell’s values, protect academic integrity and freedom, and serve the best interests of graduate student workers and the entire Cornell community.
The tentative agreement will now go to the parties, including the CGSU-UE membership, for ratification; we expect this to occur in the coming weeks. Once ratified, the contract will provide clarity and stability for graduate student workers and the university as we continue our academic and research missions.
We want to thank all members of the Cornell community for their patience and engagement throughout this process. We remain committed to fostering an environment where all members of our academic community can thrive./
Sincerely,
