Update: Fake threatening email

Since September 4, members of the Cornell community have received additional threatening and hateful messages by a sender that created a “spoof” address for the University President.

The latest emails include menacing content about individuals and groups at Cornell and in the local community. Some non-Cornell entities also have received these disturbing messages.

The Cornell University Police Department and Information Technology Security are working closely with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and area law enforcement. Cornell staff are providing support resources for impacted individuals and groups.

Anyone receiving email of this nature is urged to share the information immediately with Cornell University Police at (607) 255-1111. Please do not delete such emails or forward to anyone outside law enforcement.
