Student Code of Conduct revisions open for public comment

Dear Cornell community,

I write to share an update on the annual review of the Student Code of Conduct and Procedures and to invite our campus community to take part in this important next step in the process.

Beginning today, proposed revisions to the Student Code of Conduct and Procedures are available for review and public comment. The public comment period will remain open for six weeks, from March 9 through April 20, closing at 11:59 p.m. EDT. During this time all current Cornell students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to review the materials and share feedback or questions for the committee to consider.

Your perspectives are vital to ensuring the Student Code of Conduct and Procedures continue to reflect our shared values, support student success, and promote a respectful and inclusive campus environment.

All submitted comments will be thoughtfully read and reviewed by the Code and Procedures Review Committee (CPRC) before any final recommendations are presented. After this review and refinement, the proposed updates will move forward through the appropriate governance and approval process:

  • The CPRC reviews and advises on public comments.
  • The vice president for student and campus life will make recommendations to the president.
  • The president will assess recommendations and adopt a final version and provide notice to the Board of Trustees.
  • The revised Code and Procedures will go into effect July 1, 2026.

Details about how to access the proposed revisions and submit comments can be found here. We encourage you to engage with the content and take part in this crucial step of the process.

Thank you for your time, care, and commitment to our campus community.

Sincerely,

Marla Love
