U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission outreach to Cornell employees

Dear Cornell faculty and staff,

This week, the university learned that some current and former Cornell and Weill Cornell Medicine employees received an email survey from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The university was not consulted on the survey contents nor the government’s plans for dissemination.

The EEOC requested Cornell employee information as part of an ongoing bias inquiry. The university complied with that lawful and mandatory request with information it had on file as of August 2025. The information provided included required contact information, including email addresses. If you received the email at an address not on file with the Ithaca/Cornell AgriTech/Cornell Tech or Weill Cornell H.R. systems, it was not provided by either entity.

This survey is optional, and individuals may decide for themselves if they choose to respond.

Sincerely,

Deborah Hodys
Associate Vice President, Interim General Counsel, and Secretary of the Medical College

Sean Moeller
Interim Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer

Eric Saidel
Assistant Vice Provost, Human Resources, Weill Cornell Medicine
