Dear Cornell Community,

I am pleased to share that, following Cornell's annual Code and Procedures Review Process, the President has adopted the 2026 revisions to the Student Code of Conduct and Procedures. The revised Code and Procedures will take effect on August 1, 2026.

Revisions clarify language, improve procedural efficiency, refine guidance related to interim measures and temporary suspensions, modernize terminology and formatting, and maintain alignment with current legal and university policy standards. These updates were informed by community feedback, shared governance recommendations, and extensive committee deliberations. While not every suggestion resulted in a revision this year, all feedback was thoughtfully considered and will continue to inform future annual review cycles, beginning again this fall with the Code and Procedures Review Committee that includes representation from students, faculty, and staff.

The annual Code and Procedures review is essential to Cornell carrying out its responsibility to maintain public order and safety on campus while ensuring equal opportunity and access for all members of our community, consistent with state and federal law. It also allows for the university to establish and assess student conduct processes that are fair, transparent, educational, and responsive to community engagement.
